In a groundbreaking move for sustainable construction, Swerock is unveiling the world’s first fully electric concrete pump truck at bauma 2025 in Munich. Developed in partnership with Volvo Trucks and Putzmeister, the zero-emission vehicle represents a major milestone for eco-friendly concrete handling.
The battery-powered pump boasts an impressive 42-meter reach and can travel up to 50 km before needing a recharge. It eliminates all local emissions from the concrete transport, mixing and pumping process – a stark contrast to traditional diesel pump trucks.
“By eliminating emissions, we’re making a crucial environmental investment while enhancing workplace conditions for employees,” said Angelika Bohlin, CEO of Swerock Sweden.
The electric concrete pump is a result of Swerock’s long-term collaboration with Volvo Trucks, having previously co-developed hybrid and plug-in hybrid concrete vehicles. German manufacturer Putzmeister contributed the innovative pump design.
With the ability to pump 50 cubic meters of concrete on a single charge, the truck can be supplemented with on-site CCS2 charging if needed. It marks a pioneering step towards Swerock’s goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2045.
After its debut at bauma, the world-first electric concrete pump truck will be deployed in the Stockholm region later this year, spearheading sustainable construction practices in the Nordic market.
