French firm secures Qatar infrastructure deals

French infrastructure consultant Egis has won two contracts to operate Qatar's road network and intelligent transport systems, expanding its Middle East footprint.

French consultancy Egis has secured two contracts from Qatar’s Public Works Authority, Ashghal, to operate and maintain the country’s road infrastructure and intelligent transport systems.

The company did not disclose financial terms for the deals, which were awarded through an international tender.

The first five-year contract covers operation and maintenance of 700km of strategic motorways and 1,600km of secondary roads, encompassing 29 highway sections totaling 10,500 lane-kilometres.

A second three-year contract involves managing the Road Management Centre, operating 23 tunnels, and maintaining Qatar’s intelligent transport communication systems, integrating traffic management, tunnel operations and digital monitoring technologies.

Egis will partner with Qatar Building Company and Waagner Biro Bridge Qatar on the projects, which commenced in October 2025.

Frederico Justus, Egis CEO for Middle East & South Asia, said the contracts demonstrate Ashghal’s confidence in the firm’s capabilities and strengthen its position as a leader in road operations and maintenance.
