Skanska has signed a contract with Amtrak worth approximately SEK 810 million to renovate the Dock Bridge in New Jersey, a classic 1930s rail bridge carrying six passenger rail tracks across three parallel vertical lift spans.
The scope of work includes taking the movable bridge spans out of service and securing them in a fixed position, demolishing existing mechanical and electrical systems, lifting the bridge counterweights and installing permanent counterweight supports, and renovating concrete piers.
Work began in the second quarter and is expected to be completed by the end of 2028.
