“We look forward to helping shape the future stadium district. The multi-sport building will become the face of the area towards the city,” said Joakim Lyth, architect and creative leader at Wingårdhs’ Malmö office.
The facility will include a full-size soccer pitch, basketball court, training facilities, gym, accommodations, high school classrooms, and office space. Currently, up to 80 sports clubs, federations, schools, and sports-related businesses operate in the stadium area.
“We are honored to collaborate with Wingårdhs and the City of Malmö on this multi-sport building project and look forward to the continued development of the Stadium District,” stated Pär Helm, Skanska’s district manager.
The new multi-purpose sports venue is scheduled for completion in 2027.
“We are not only strengthening the Stadium District’s position as Malmö’s premier sports hub, but also elevating its national standing. This new multi-sport facility will play a major role in the area’s and Malmö’s future, becoming a home for sports where generations of Malmö residents can pursue their dreams,” said Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh, Chair of the Municipal Executive Board.
