The city of Borås, Sweden has selected Skanska to construct a new school. The contract signed is worth 270 million Swedish kronor.
The new Erikslundskolan will be larger than the current school of the same name but remain on the existing site. The neighboring sports hall will be demolished and replaced with an activity and sports hall complete with spectator seating.
The school is situated in close proximity to the Viskan river, Rya ridges, Almenäs, and lake Öresjö.
Currently over 400 students attend classes here from pre-school through 9th grade. The new school will accommodate twice as many students across a total of five floors.
Demolition work will commence this summer, followed by the start of construction.
The new school with sports hall is expected to be ready for use at the start of the fall term in 2026.
