Peab and LKAB are strengthening their strategic partnership around several planned major industrial investments linked to the green transition in northern Sweden.
The companies have, among other things, signed a letter of intent regarding the construction of the hydrogen plant that LKAB plans in Gällivare. The letter of intent also includes a logistics facility in the Port of Luleå.
“We are proud to play an important role in this development as a strategic partner to LKAB. Peab has long experience with major industrial projects in the region where we have built everything from factories to logistics facilities and larger ports. This means that we are accustomed to complex projects and know that they always involve challenges,” says Jesper Göransson, CEO and President of Peab.
LKAB is in the process of transitioning its entire operations to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the iron and steel industry.
“We are taking the next step towards realizing our plans through a long-term collaboration with Peab. By working closely from the start, Peab can contribute expertise throughout the planning and also build structural capital, work on knowledge transfer between projects, and take overall responsibility for these major construction projects,” says Jan Moström, President and CEO of LKAB.
