Sweden’s construction industry is celebrating a record-breaking year as nine projects qualify for the prestigious Swedish PQi quality award, signaling improved standards across the sector.
Nine Swedish construction projects have qualified for the Swedish construction industry’s quality award PQi – Excellent Project Quality. The award is presented by Binosight together with Byggherrarna and Byggföretagen, Sweden’s leading construction industry organizations.
“I have the honor of congratulating the project management teams. They naturally become very happy,” says Thomas Samuelsson, CEO of Binosight.
To qualify, projects must meet stringent statistical requirements. Subsequently, a nomination committee reviews them.
Tommy Lenberg, CEO of Byggherrarna, emphasizes the importance of common standards.
“We’re familiar with the industry’s challenges, but have less insight into the solutions. To drive knowledge development forward, we need to measure in a standardized way,” he says.
The increased adoption has resulted in the first database now being handed over to researchers at Luleå University of Technology in Sweden.
“The number of awarded projects sets a record this year. It’s certainly because more and more are using PQi,” Tommy Lenberg notes.
Lars Redtzer, Head of Industry Development at Byggföretagen, views PQi as a breakthrough.
“Through uniform measurement, we create better conditions for learning and collaboration. It’s inspiring to see more projects reach Best Practice level,” he says.
