Sweden’s Transport Administration is taking construction giant NCC to court for €115 million, escalating a bitter dispute over the troubled Västlänken rail project.
Sweden’s Transport Administration is suing NCC for over €115 million following the controversial contract termination at Korsvägen station in the Västlänken rail project. The construction giant is rejecting the claims and threatening a countersuit.
The agency is demanding payment for delay penalties, cost overruns, and repayment of allegedly improper compensation. It claims NCC failed to perform work in a “professional manner,” causing delays and increased expenses.
NCC is fighting back. The company says it plans to file substantial financial claims against the Transport Administration, arguing the contract termination lacked legal grounds.
“The claims in the Transport Administration’s lawsuit have no connection to reality. WLC will direct extensive financial demands against the Transport Administration because their termination completely lacks legal basis,” said Amelie Winberg, NCC’s press chief.
The Transport Administration is taking the case to district court after NCC rejected its initial payment demand.
