Strawberry has signed a long-term lease agreement to develop and operate its first ever hotel in the Lofoten islands, partnering with Rica Eiendom, Utstillingsplassen Eiendom AS and Norges Råfiskelag on a new Comfort Hotel in central Svolvær.
Set to open its doors in spring 2027, the 175-room hotel will be located right by the express boat quay and Lofoten kulturhus, totaling almost 6,400 sq m across up to seven floors.
“Finally we can unveil this investment. Svolvær is the engine of Lofoten, and the hotel will be a fantastic base to explore this northern pearl,” said Petter A. Stordalen, owner of Strawberry. “We’ve grown a lot in northern Norway lately, but Lofoten was missing.”
The partners aim to create an aesthetic addition to Svolvær that is open and inviting for guests and locals alike.
“We’re very pleased to partner with Strawberry on this project, and believe together we can make a positive addition for Svolvær and Lofoten,” said Ronny Wilhelmsen, CEO of Rica Eiendom.
The property is co-owned by Norges Råfiskelag, Utstillingsplassen Eiendom AS and Rica Eiendom, with Strawberry operating it under the Comfort Hotel brand promising to be “easy on the planet.”
“Comfort is the ideal concept for a destination where sustainability is paramount. After years as competitors, we’re excited to finally collaborate with Rica,” Stordalen said.
