The project encompasses construction of a new runway, taxiways and aircraft parking aprons. Preparatory work has already been carried out in the area, including vegetation removal, demolition of old infrastructure and blasting.
– This is a historic agreement and the largest Peab has received in Norway. I want to thank Avinor for their trust and our close collaboration in the first phase of the project. We now look forward to commencing construction of the airport, which will provide a major boost for the entire Bodø region, said Johan Hansson, CEO of Peab Anläggning in Norway.
The construction contract consists of a development phase and an implementation phase. In the first phase, a so-called Phase 1 agreement, Avinor and Peab together with subcontractors and consultants developed and optimized solutions and established the target price for the project. The project now transitions into Phase 2, the implementation phase.
– As a local community builder, it’s important for us to contribute to employment in the region. This is a complex project that requires good coordination and cooperation between all parties involved, Hansson said.
Construction work will commence immediately, with the project scheduled for completion in June 2028.
