Norway's leading real estate developers were recognized for pioneering achievements in sustainable construction at the inaugural 2024 BREEAM Awards ceremony held in Oslo.
Presented by the Green Building Alliance, the awards honor companies using the prestigious BREEAM certification system to document holistic sustainability across environmental, social and economic factors.
Furniture manufacturer Vestre took home the award for best new building with its groundbreaking “The Plus” factory in Magnor. A showcase of green design principles, the innovative industrial facility is a plus-energy building constructed from local timber that achieves a 55% reduction in CO2 emissions.
“The ambition was to build something with sky-high environmental and climate requirements, but where the social aspect was by far the most important,” said an enthusiastic Bjørn Fjellstad, Vestre’s managing director, as he accepted the award. “This has been complete madness, which will hopefully inspire others.”
