NCC has been commissioned by the Norwegian Defence Estates Agency to construct a new submarine dock at the Haakonsvern naval base in Bergen. The recently signed contract is worth around NOK 450 million.
The agreement with the Defence Estates Agency also includes options for additional works.
– This contract with the Defence Estates Agency demonstrates our solid expertise in building quay facilities and our ability to carry out complex underwater work. We are now starting, together with the Defence Estates Agency, the work of constructing a specially adapted quay facility for the new submarines, says Steffen Dale, head of NCC Infrastructure Norway’s Civil Engineering West unit.
The quay facility NCC will now build is part of a larger project at Haakonsvern to establish necessary maintenance facilities for the new submarines. Central to NCC’s work are demanding underwater operations and extensive concrete works.
The quay facility is scheduled for delivery to the Defence Estates Agency in Q3 2027.
The NOK 450 million order will be registered in NCC’s Infrastructure business area in the second quarter of 2024.
