Weather and traffic wear down the roads, which is why regular maintenance is essential to maintain safe roads for motorists. A report commissioned by NCC shows that the accumulated maintenance backlog for the road network in Scandinavia amounts to approximately 7.8 billion euros and will continue to deteriorate if nothing is done.

– The road network is an important prerequisite for our society to function, and these contracts contribute to improving the situation. The contracts that have now been entered into will be carried out with efficient logistics and a well-planned progress plan, which will contribute to safe execution, says André Waage, Head of Department at NCC Industry.

The work in the nine asphalt contracts includes milling, asphalting, and other work related to these high-traffic road sections.

From the beginning of the year, it became mandatory for public procurement to have an environmental weight of at least 30 percent. NCC has submitted environmental declarations, so-called EPDs, in all contracts.

– The new legal requirement has worked well. More countries should reward CO2 reduction in tender competitions, says André Waage.

Asphalt contracts NCC has signed with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration and county municipalities so far this year:

  • SVV Oppland and Hedmark
  • SVV Greater Oslo
  • Innlandet County Municipality
  • SVV South in Trondheim
  • SVV North in Trondheim
  • Trondheim FV South
  • SVV Agder
  • SVV Vestfold
  • SVV Telemark
