A US court has overturned the Trump administration's decision to halt Revolution Wind. The offshore wind power project can now continue during legal proceedings. Danish energy company Ørsted won the temporary injunction.
Danish energy company Ørsted fought back against the Trump administration’s decision to halt Revolution Wind. The nearly completed offshore wind power project located off Rhode Island.
Now they are winning, as a US court in Washington D.C temporarily overturns the decision. Therefore, work is allowed to continue during the ongoing legal process.
The ruling represents a crucial message for the wind power giant, which has faced significant challenges in the US recently. The Danish company is also implementing a savings package with extensive cuts.
In total, around 2,000 employees will be forced to leave the company by 2027. That corresponds to a quarter of the workforce. Moreover, approximately 500 of those positions were cut at the end of 2025.
The Revolution Wind project had been stopped by federal authorities following the Trump administration’s broader push against renewable energy initiatives. However, the court found insufficient grounds for the immediate halt.
Ørsted argued that stopping the nearly finished wind power project would cause significant financial damage. The company also emphasized the project’s importance for regional clean energy goals.
