The automated system will enable large-scale pre-manufactured reinforcement cage assembly through robotic welding and tying techniques. According to project estimates, the technology could slash manual workforce requirements by 80% while reducing assembly costs by 40%, compared to traditional construction methods.
Despite the automation focus, the venture promises to create over 2,000 high-skilled jobs locally. The initiative includes establishing dedicated rebar cage assembly factories within NEOM’s 26,500-square-kilometer development area.
“We are pushing the boundaries of construction innovation,” said Majid Mufti, CEO of NEOM Investment Fund. “Our partnership with Samsung is aligned with our strategy to develop global champions that catalyze supply chains.”
Samsung C&T’s Hojin Jung emphasized the venture’s transformative potential: “We aim to revolutionize the construction industry by incorporating innovative robotics and automation solutions that will redefine regional project delivery within NEOM.”
The initiative represents a key component of Saudi Arabia’s broader vision to establish leadership in advanced industries and sustainable construction methods.
