The consortium comprises Eiffage subsidiaries Eiffage Génie Civil, Eiffage Construction, Eiffage Métal and Eiffage Route, along with partners Moretti Constructions and Bemaco. Their scope of work includes general contracting for earthworks, roads, utilities, foundations, structural works, concrete and steel framing, roofing, cladding, waterproofing and interior buildout.
The new 62,000 square meter production facility for Automotive Cells Company (ACC) will be built adjacent to the 60,000 square meter Phase 1 factory that was completed in May 2023, also by the Eiffage consortium. Once Phase 2 is operational in mid-2025, ACC’s total annual battery production capacity will increase from 13 GWh to 28.4 GWh.
ACC is a joint venture created in 2020 by Saft (TotalEnergies), Stellantis, Opel and later joined by Mercedes-Benz. The Franco-German alliance aims to establish European leadership in automotive batteries to support the continent’s energy transition and electric mobility goals.
Construction on the €60 million-plus Phase 2 contract commenced in August 2023 with completion scheduled for April 2025. The fast-tracked 20-month schedule will overlap with four other works packages at the gigafactory site.
