A consortium led by Webuild has secured a €660m contract to build the first phase of Naples metro Line 10, creating 700 jobs.
An Italian consortium led by Webuild has won a €660m contract to build the first section of Naples metro Line 10. The team includes Eteria Consorzio Stabile, Costruire, ICM, and MN Metropolitana di Napoli.
The consortium will design and build 6.5km of railway through four municipalities: Afragola, Casoria, Casavatore, and Naples. The project will create up to 700 jobs, GCR reports.
Phase 1A includes three complete stations: Di Vittorio, Casoria Centro, and Afragola. Meanwhile, four additional stations will be partially built: Casavatore San Pietro, Casoria Casavatore, Casoria Afragola, and Afragola Garibaldi.
The complete Line 10 will eventually stretch 14km underground from Naples-Afragola station to Principe Umberto station. However, construction will happen in multiple phases.
Webuild previously built the Naples-Afragola high-speed station. This hub will connect northern and southern Italy.
The consortium holds exclusive rights to complete future phases, pending financing. The total value could exceed €1.7bn. Future work includes 7.3km of additional track, five more stations, and completion of the four partially built stations.
The stations reach depths of 45m. Tunnels measure 8.6m in internal diameter.
