State-backed infrastructure developer Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) has issued a procurement notice for vertical transportation equipment at Poland’s planned flagship aviation hub.
The contract, slated for award in 2026, encompasses design, procurement, installation and maintenance of more than 500 elevators, escalators and moving walkways serving the terminal complex, satellite piers, rail facilities and multimodal interchange, as well as the air traffic control tower and ancillary structures, GCR reports.
The successful bidder will provide technical specifications for detailed engineering and assume responsibility for operations and maintenance post-opening. Installation is scheduled for completion by November 2026.
CPK has separately tendered for a program delivery partner and launched procurement for the 450,000-square-meter terminal building, with five consortia currently shortlisted.
Set to commence operations in 2032, the Foster + Partners and Buro Happold-designed airport anchors the broader CPK infrastructure program, which includes motorway enhancements and 2,000 kilometers of high-speed rail targeting maximum 2.5-hour journey times between major Polish cities and the new airport, located 50 kilometers west of Warsaw.
Terminal construction begins in 2026 with operational readiness targeted for 2032. The underground railway station is expected complete by 2029, with the inaugural high-speed rail segment linking Warsaw and Łódź scheduled to open in 2032.
