The Czech Republic has awarded its biggest transport PPP project to date. The Strabag-led ViAlliance35 consortium takes on the EUR 2.9 billion D35 motorway between Bohemia and Moravia.
The ViAlliance35 consortium has won the D35 motorway project in the Czech Republic, valued at approximately EUR 2.9 billion. It is the largest PPP project in the country’s transport sector to date.
The consortium comprises Strabag, Ferrovial subsidiaries Cintra and Budimex, and financial investor Invesis. Contract signing and construction start are expected by the end of 2026.
The project covers a total stretch of around 52 kilometres, including 35.4 kilometres of new motorway between Opatovec, Staré Město and Mohelnice. Two tunnels of four and 1.3 kilometres respectively are part of the scope. The contract also includes operation and maintenance of 17 kilometres of existing motorway over a 28-year period.
“The selection of our consortium as the preferred bidder is a great vote of confidence. Together with our partners and drawing on our extensive experience in complex transport infrastructure and tunnel construction, we are fully confident that we can deliver this project,” says Stefan Kratochwill, CEO of Strabag.
The D35 will form a key link between Bohemia and Moravia and relieve the heavily congested D1 motorway. The consortium is also involved in a separate project on the D35 corridor worth approximately EUR 180 million.
