Finland’s first office skyscraper, the 111-meter Horisontti tower, has been completed in the Kalasatama district of Helsinki. The 26-story building was handed over to its owner, property investment firm Niam, on schedule.
Tenants have begun moving into the premium office spaces, which are designed for modern hybrid work with flexible floor plans and amenities to enhance employee well-being. Construction firm SRV will also relocate its own Helsinki headquarters to six floors of the tower in May.
“The nature of office work has changed significantly in recent years. Many companies are seeking new workplace solutions that support productivity, increase employee satisfaction and meet sustainability goals – and Horisontti caters to these needs,” said SRV CEO Saku Sipola.
A highlight is the tower’s top-floor BISOUBISOU Brasserie & Bar, Helsinki’s highest restaurant at 100 meters, blending French brasserie traditions with a relaxed New York vibe. The 100-seat restaurant with panoramic glass veranda opens on Walpurgis Night (April 30th).
As Finland’s tallest office building, the Horisontti project required extensive engineering expertise. Over 1,200 workers were oriented on the two-year construction site, which implemented innovative structural solutions while maintaining stringent safety standards.
SRV has an 80% market share in highrises over 100 meters tall in Finland, including Helsinki’s Majakka residential tower (134m) and the Loisto (124m) and Lumo One (120m) office towers in Kalasatama.
The LEED Platinum-targeted Horisontti achieves an A-level energy rating through measures like airtight construction, efficient climate control and ventilation customized per floor. Intelligent sensors monitor indoor air quality as the building prepares for future climate challenges. Comprehensive sustainability data will be provided to tenants.
