SRV has completed the construction of Aurajoki Oy’s new hot-dip galvanizing plant in Lieto. The approximately 6,200 square meter plant was completed on schedule after a one-year construction project and will be commissioned on July 1, 2024.
The plant is Europe’s most environmentally friendly galvanizing facility, utilizing the latest technology for saving energy, raw materials and water. The energy generated from the factory process is directed to the Lieto district heating network, and a solar power system will be installed in the building later.
The project was carried out as a collaborative construction management contract, where building services played a significant role. The construction emphasized lifecycle wisdom and environmental friendliness. The on-site sorting rate was 88%, of which 61% was recycled material and 99% was utilized.
– The collaborative contract model enabled a smooth transition from the development phase to the implementation phase. The cooperation with the client has proceeded in good spirit, and we were able to complete the project beautifully on schedule. It has been a pleasure to construct a modern galvanizing plant that has been built with lifecycle wisdom, taking into account energy efficiency and diverse future usage needs, says Jukka Aaltonen, SRV’s Regional Manager for Southwest Finland.
