OBOS is selling one of its three factories in Sweden, the plant in Sävsjö. The factories in Vrigstad and Myresjö will be retained, with OBOS making a major investment in automation at the latter.

Alongside the sale, OBOS is making a substantial investment in a new, highly automated factory in Myresjö. The majority of the company’s industrial production will be concentrated in Myresjö.

The buyer is Grundbulten 151811, which is changing its name to Sävsjö Produktion Holding AB. Jean-Pierre Thudin and Richard Krantz own the company. The Sävsjö factory specialises in prefabricated production for residential projects. It has manufactured building elements and components for OBOS, for other contractors and for the new owners themselves. The new owners and OBOS will continue to work together on a commercial basis.

Business as usual in Sävsjö

“We firmly believe in the future of industrialised construction and timber house production. Under new ownership, the Sävsjö operation will be well positioned to continue developing. Meanwhile, we at OBOS are focusing our resources on our future production structure and the major investment in Myresjö. The fact that we also see opportunities to keep doing business with the Sävsjö operation makes this a sound, long-term solution for both parties,” says Malin Svensson, Group Director, OBOS Trähus.

All current employees will transfer to the new owners as part of the change of ownership.

“We know the Sävsjö operation well and see good opportunities to build on the expertise and production capacity that already exist here. We look forward to developing the business while continuing our collaboration with OBOS and other customers,” says Jean-Pierre Thudin, CEO of TBAB.
