A fire has broken out at the historic Børsen (Stock Exchange) building in central Copenhagen. The 17th century building has lost its iconic twisted spire, according to Sveriges Television

The building, located next to the Danish parliament Christiansborg, was under renovation at the time – completely covered in scaffolding and tarpaulins.

According to Danish broadcaster DR, all people inside the building have been evacuated, Swedish radio reports.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. Built in 1619-1640, Børsen is one of the oldest stock exchanges in Europe and a renowned Renaissance architecture landmark.
