The data center boom is keeping Skanska busy. The construction giant has now signed yet another data center agreement, this time with Bitzero in Norway.

Skanska has signed an agreement with Bitzero to develop a data center campus in Tunnsjødal, in the Norwegian municipality of Namsskogan. The site can accommodate two to four data center buildings with a combined capacity of up to 110 MW, replacing an existing 40 MW container-based solution.

During the development phase, Skanska will be responsible for design, planning and procurement. The goal is for the agreement to lead to a contract for the construction itself. Technology company Vertiv is also a key partner in the project.

“This is a large and complex project that could become important both for Namsskogan and for our data center efforts in Norway. By coming in early, we can bring together the right expertise and lay the groundwork for fast, high-quality execution,” says Pål Magnus Aglen, executive vice president at Skanska Norway.

The agreement is part of Skanska’s ambition to establish itself as a data center builder in Norway. The group has built more than 250 data center projects in the US with a combined value of over $7 billion, and now aims to bring that experience to the Norwegian market.
