Nyab is starting preparatory work on a major data center project in Utajärvi, Finland, with the potential for additional contracts.
Nyab has landed the first phase of preparatory earthworks and infrastructure work for a planned data center campus in Utajärvi, Finland. However, the company has chosen not to disclose the value of the contract.
The campus is being developed by Data Tank Nordic, a project company within AMP Tank, and work begins immediately.
“This large-scale data center project is of great importance to the Municipality of Utajärvi. The start of work marks another concrete step in its development,” says Anne Sormunen, municipal manager of Utajärvi.
If all goes according to plan, there may also be additional work for Nyab on the project. If completed in full, it will comprise four data halls with a combined capacity of 200 MW, along with associated infrastructure.
The options included in the contract are intended to expand the scope of the preparatory work. Negotiations are underway regarding further commitments for Nyab.
“The Utajärvi data center project is well aligned with Nyab’s expertise and experience in infrastructure, energy, and industrial construction. We have been involved in the project from an early stage,” says Petri Kotkansalo, CEO of Nyab Finland.
Finnish data centers are far from new territory for Nyab. Quite the opposite: among other things, the company has an ongoing planning and design assignment for the billion-kronor project in Mikkeli.
