The Swedish government has cleared 12 infrastructure projects for construction, unlocking SEK 50 billion in spending. Trafikverket can now begin procuring contractors for the schemes, which will start between 2026 and 2028.
The Swedish government has approved construction starts for 12 major infrastructure projects with a combined value of SEK 50 billion.
Among the projects given the go-ahead is Tvärförbindelse Södertörn, a long-awaited road link in the Stockholm region, along with the E4/E20 Hallunda-Vårby upgrade. Together, the two projects carry a price tag of nearly SEK 25 billion, even after cost revisions brought the total down.
The decisions are part of the national infrastructure plan for 2026–2037. All approved projects have a value exceeding SEK 150 million and can begin construction between 2026 and 2028.
The green light means the Swedish Transport Administration, Trafikverket, can now move forward with procurement of contractors for the projects.
