Skanska has secured an €83 million contract to expand the Cox Science Center and Aquarium in West Palm Beach, Florida, with completion scheduled for September 2027.

Skanska has signed a contract with Cox Science Center and Aquarium to expand the facility in West Palm Beach, Florida. The agreement is valued at €83 million, approximately SEK 820 million.

The project involves constructing a two-story Science Pavilion spanning approximately 8,000 square meters. The expansion will include facilities for an enlarged aquarium, permanent and temporary exhibitions, and spaces dedicated to science, technology and mathematics.

The facility will house salt and freshwater tanks totaling approximately 950,000 liters. Consequently, it will become Florida’s fifth-largest aquarium. The largest concrete basin will feature an acrylic glass window weighing around 9,100 kilograms.

Skanska will execute construction while the existing Cox Science Center and Aquarium remains open to visitors. Work is currently underway. The company plans to complete the project in September 2027.

The order will be recorded in the United States during the fourth quarter of 2025.
