Solrød Municipality has claimed first place in Ejendom Danmark’s annual survey of Denmark’s most property-friendly municipalities, overtaking Billund, which has dominated the rankings for several years.
The ranking evaluates objective criteria including coverage tax rates, property tax rates, rent regulation, building permit processing times, and property code violations, factors municipalities can control that directly impact business climate.
Solrød’s success stems from several concrete initiatives. The municipality has eliminated coverage taxes, and property code violations have declined sharply. But the most significant gain comes from a dramatic reduction in building permit processing time, from 25 days to just 13 days, while simultaneously lowering permit fees.
Solrød Mayor Emil Blücher welcomed the recognition:
“This is a fine acknowledgment of the work that has been done, for example, in shortening building permit processing times and reducing permit fees. At the same time, it’s worth remembering that the city council, long before my time, has had a sound, center-right approach to things like coverage taxes and rent regulation, which has created a strong foundation for our position today.”
