Skanska secures $72M university contract in Kentucky

Skanska has signed a $72 million contract, approximately 780 million Swedish kronor, with Northern Kentucky University for renovations and an expansion to the university’s campus in Highland Heights, Kentucky. The contract value will be included in the US order bookings for the first quarter of 2025.

The project includes a 7,400 square meter addition to the existing Dorothy Westerman Herrmann Science Center, aimed at unifying various academic programs. The expansion will house departments covering subjects like biology, physics, geology, engineering, chemistry and biochemistry. It also encompasses smaller renovations to the current science center.

Preparations began in October 2024 to enable a construction start in the first quarter of 2025. The project is scheduled for completion in August 2027.

The expanded science center will provide Northern Kentucky University’s students and faculty with modern, collaborative spaces to push the boundaries of scientific discovery.
