The Hagalund Depot has a history dating back to the early 20th century. Since then, the depot has continued to evolve to meet the need for maintaining more trains.
This spring, the next step begins to modernize the depot for current and future needs. NCC’s assignment includes the construction of a new train hall with vehicle lifts. The existing depot and track area will remain operational throughout the production period.
The project will be certified to the BREEAM “Very Good” sustainability level and have a focus on reuse. Equipment from existing buildings slated for demolition will be dismantled and reused in this project or other Jernhusen projects.
“NCC is currently building depots in both Högdalen and Älvsjö south of Stockholm and has also constructed several train depots around the country. Now we are taking another step to develop not only Stockholm’s but all of Sweden’s rail infrastructure, which is incredibly exciting to be a part of. Close collaboration with Jernhusen is a key success factor here as the existing depot and track area will remain operational throughout construction,” said Niklas Sparw, Head of NCC Building Sweden.
The new depot is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
