Swedish construction equipment maker Dynapac will cut 50 jobs at its Karlskrona plant. The layoffs come amid declining order intake, according to union representatives.
Dynapac, a manufacturer of rollers, asphalt machines and smaller handheld equipment, is implementing major layoffs at its Karlskrona facility in Sweden.
The company announced this week that 50 positions will be eliminated, BLT reports.
Roy Olsson, union representative for IF Metall, told the newspaper the news was largely anticipated.
– It was probably quite expected by many, so no one had an aha moment since there has been a declining order intake. People have questioned why no orders are coming, and it’s the customer who decides what and when they want to buy, he says.
Negotiations will now begin with a four-month consultation period. No one will be dismissed before that time expires.
Dynapac currently employs around 300 people in Karlskrona. The company generates annual revenues of just over 1.5 billion kronor.
The company was owned by Atlas Copco until 2017, when it was sold to French construction and industrial group Fayat Group.
