From paper mill to data center. Byggpartner begins construction of major project in Kvarnsveden, Borlänge
The former paper mill in Kvarnsveden, Borlänge will soon be just a memory. A massive data center complex is set to be built on the site.
Byggpartner will carry out the work in a multi-year collaboration project with Ecodatacenter.
The current order covers one data hall, groundwork for future halls, as well as infrastructure for power transmission and redundancy.
“Extremely proud”
The data halls will be constructed with timber frames and largely using workforce and expertise from local and regional industry.
“We are extremely proud of our collaboration with Ecodatacenter. Byggpartner is helping to create a new global standard for high-performance, sustainable data centers. And we’re building them with timber from our local area,” says Johan Karlsson, CEO of Byggpartner.
Construction of the first hall has been commissioned at an order value of just over SEK 800 million. Groundwork has commenced and the first phase is expected to be completed by mid-2027.
