The state-owned railway company has spent NOK 413 million on remedial works in the brand new Follobane tunnel. Now Bane Nor and the contractor consortium are battling over hundreds of millions in Oslo District Court.
The Follobane opened on December 12, 2022, but experienced major problems with water leaks and train stoppages. The line closed after just over a week and didn’t reopen until early March 2023.
Contractor consortium Acciona Ghella JV (AGJV) and Bane Nor are now facing each other in Oslo District Court. The trial, running from October 6, 2025 to February 15, 2026, concerns the final settlement for the Follobane.
AGJV is claiming around NOK 300 million, primarily for additional works. Bane Nor is claiming nearly NOK 480 million, with NOK 413 million spent addressing leakage problems after the railway opened.
“We have no tradition of carrying out upgrades and maintenance of this magnitude on brand new tunnel facilities,” Bane Nor’s attorney Arild Skage tells Bygg.no.
