A powerful tornado ripped through communities north of Paris, killing a young construction worker and leaving a trail of destruction including toppled cranes and uprooted trees.
A tornado swept through an area just north of Paris, causing widespread destruction in its path. A 23-year-old construction worker died at a building site, and several people were injured – four of them seriously. Video footage from Le Parisien shows large construction cranes violently toppling over in Ermont. Residents of the municipality also report everything from shattered windows to damaged cars.
“When I opened my shutters, I saw trees that had been uprooted lying on top of my car,” one man told the newspaper.
There have also been reports of torn-off roofs, power outages, and severe damage to a cemetery.
