Peab's Västlänken deal grows to €480M

The expanded recognition brings Peab’s total order value on the segment to €480 million, up from €130 million previously booked.

The scope includes construction of an underground commuter rail station with four tracks, three entrances, and multiple mezzanine levels. Peab assumed the contract in 2024.

“This is a historically large assignment that must be viewed in light of the fact that Haga-Rosenlund is one of Sweden’s most challenging civil engineering projects,” said Lotta Brändström, business area manager at Peab Anläggning.

The work is complicated by ground conditions including bedrock, clay, and a 30-meter excavation beneath the Rosenlund Canal, as well as the site’s location in central Gothenburg’s Haga district.

“The fact that the production method is now established marks an important milestone and creates conditions for an efficient and safe construction process,” said Patrick Guné, head of large projects at Trafikverket.

The five-year design-build contract is part of Sweden’s West Link rail tunnel project.
