The company gets five more years of responsibility for operating electrical systems in 15 national highway tunnels in Østfold and parts of Akershus. The contract can be extended for up to three years.
SET Elektro has secured a renewed contract with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration for operation and maintenance of electrical systems in national highway tunnels in Østfold, Follo, and Romerike. The contract is worth 215 million kroner including VAT for the period through 2030, with the possibility of extension for up to three years.
The company won the contract after submitting the lowest bid. The new contract period began September 1 and covers 15 tunnels, including Askimporten, Herland, Eidet, Galteryggen, and St. Hansfjellet in Østfold, as well as Rælingen, Vittenberg, Nøstvedt, Nordby, Vassum, Frogn, Oslofjord, Smiehagen, Mosseporten, and Follo in Akershus.
The contract covers operation and maintenance of electrical installations including lighting, cameras, emergency phones, speakers, safety systems, variable signs, pumping stations, and generator facilities that must function 24/7 year-round.
“SET Elektro has held this contract during the period 2020 to 2025 as well, and we look forward to continuing the good cooperation with them,” says construction manager Tore Bjørndal at the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.
A total of 25-30 people will be involved in the work, including subcontractors from multiple trades.
“This means we can secure existing jobs, as well as have the opportunity to recruit new apprentices in consultation with the training office. We also look forward to developing new and innovative solutions together with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration,” says project manager Thomas Haukland Granheim at SET Elektro.
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration requires zero-emission vehicles where possible. Of the company’s total 76 vans and 23 lift trucks, 36 vans are fossil-free and two lift trucks are fully electric.
SET Elektro has its headquarters in Sem outside Tønsberg and will work on the contract from its office in Ås.
