Denmark’s housing market reached a record high in 2025 with total sales of 307 billion kroner. Just over 100,000 homes changed hands across all property types.
Danish homebuyers spent a record 307 billion kroner on property in 2025, according to new figures from Boligsiden. The total represents a 28 percent increase from 2024 and marks the highest amount in the platform’s statistics.
Just over 100,000 homes changed hands during the year across all property types throughout Denmark.
Birgit Daetz, communications director and housing economist at Boligsiden, says the increase reflects broader market trends.
– Given the price development we’ve seen in the housing market in 2025, it’s not surprising that we’re also seeing a rise in the total purchase sum. When homes generally become more expensive, the total amount of money Danes pay for owner-occupied housing will naturally also increase, she says.
The figures represent substantial sums. Daetz puts the numbers in perspective by comparing them to major infrastructure projects.
– These are huge amounts. Put in perspective, last year’s total purchase sum corresponds to approximately 14 Great Belt bridges, if we compare with the construction cost, she says.
This marks the first time in Boligsiden’s statistics that home sales have exceeded 300 billion kroner.
However, when adjusted for inflation, 2021 remains the record year. Converted to current prices, the 2021 figure equates to 338 billion kroner.
The 307 billion kroner total covers transactions for all property types across Denmark. The Capital Region alone accounted for 149 billion kroner – nearly half of the country’s total purchase sum.
