“Everyone involved has done a fantastic job. This shows that we have an organization capable of handling extraordinary events beyond the ordinary. It demonstrates our ability to adapt when required to complete projects on time, or even ahead of schedule in this case,” said Roberto Maiorana, Director-General of the Swedish Transport Administration.
The E6 is a vital transportation artery along Sweden’s west coast, connecting Norway to the continent. The disruption impacted many – travelers, freight transporters, and local residents. With the E6 now open, traffic pressure on detour routes is expected to decrease significantly.
“We have planned for handling the detour road network after traffic moves back to the E6. Some measures will remain, others will be removed. We also want to thank all residents along the detour routes and travelers for their patience,” said Anneli Amft, Head of Maintenance at the Transport Administration.
